Recuperative care provides short-term housing and supportive services for individuals who are medically stable but still need time and assistance to recover after a hospital stay. It bridges the gap between hospital discharge and full independence by offering a safe environment, care coordination, and support for a successful transition back to the community.

This service is administered through Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans (MCPs) and is not available in all counties, as it is an optional benefit under the CalAIM Initiative.
